The Little League Organization
When three teams took the field in 1939, no one could have predicted what they had started. What followed has been nothing short of a phenomenon that has grown into the largest organized baseball program in the world. In 1964, both houses of Congress passed legislation which was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson that granted Little League Baseball a Congressional Charter of Federal Incorporation. No other sports organization has been so honored by the Federal government.
Today, over a half-century after the first teams heard the call, "Play Ball!" Little League Baseball has over 7 million participants annually, in forty countries. Through Little League, the American game of baseball has truly become a sport enjoyed by the entire world.
